JARDÍN DEL SOL HOUSE
Living at the Edge Between Built Matter and Horizon
The house is positioned on the edge of a three-hundred-meter cliff along the northern coast of Tenerife, in a setting where the landscape opens towards the sea, the black-sand shoreline and the distant presence of Teide.
The project begins with a timber platform on which a concrete and glass volume is placed, conceived with strict formal restraint so that architecture reduces its presence and allows the landscape to take precedence.
A single-storey rectangular volume accommodates the bedrooms and service areas, inserted into the double-height space containing the living room, study and kitchen. Together, both elements form an L-shaped plan embracing a black reflecting pool positioned at the edge of the platform.
The water surface extends the horizon visually and establishes a continuous relationship with the ocean, reinforcing the connection between interior, terrace and open landscape.
The entire building is finished in bush-hammered exposed concrete, used consistently inside and outside to reinforce material continuity.
The façades facing the views are opened through continuous glazing, protected by timber shutters in the bedroom areas and external canvas blinds in the main living space.
A freestanding steel and timber pergola introduces shade over part of the terrace, while planting is limited to native cliff vegetation placed on the slope between the street and the house, reinforcing the perception that the building emerges directly from the terrain.
The project is conceived as a quiet architectural presence, where material, light and horizon are brought together in a single spatial experience.
