HISTORIC CENTRE REGENERATION · Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Regenerating the Centre Through a Shared Urban Identity
The intervention in the historic centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is part of the urban transformation process initiated in the late 1990s, with the aim of updating a central area of strong institutional, commercial and heritage value.
The project understands public space as the principal structure for regeneration, acting on streets and squares through a shared language based on a limited number of elements with high adaptability.
Paving, vegetation and lighting constitute the essential components of this strategy, allowing a coherent reading of the whole while reinforcing the urban identity of the area.
Natural stone progressively replaces asphalt in the most significant spaces, while planting is integrated as an active component of urban construction.
Lighting introduces a precise night-time reading, emphasizing squares and singular buildings through a deliberately restrained treatment.
The intervention transforms the center into a continuous urban system where heritage, mobility and public space regain prominence.
