REHABILITATION OF FLAT IN CALLE LAGASCA MADRID

Spatial clarity through structure, openness and privacy

The refurbishment of this residence on Calle Lagasca, Madrid, redefines the existing apartment through a precise reorganization of space, circulation and domestic use.

The principal living areas are brought together within a generous living and dining room, where the original riveted steel columns are retained and exposed, giving the interior a distinct material and structural presence. The kitchen opens directly onto this space and can be either fully integrated or enclosed by sliding glass panels, allowing the relationship between the different areas to shift according to use.

Beyond the kitchen, a discreet service zone accommodates laundry, technical equipment and ancillary functions, while a guest powder room is incorporated within the daytime area.

A central corridor leads to the private quarters, comprising three en-suite bedrooms conceived as independent and intimate spaces. A fourth en-suite bedroom, intended for staff, is connected to a separate secondary staircase, establishing a clear distinction between principal and service circulation.

The project is conceived as an exercise in spatial clarity, continuity and restraint, where the existing structure becomes part of the architectural language of the new interior. The result is a home defined by proportion, flexibility and a measured balance between openness and privacy.
