GIL ROLDÁN BUILDING
Volumetric Fragmentation and Topographical Adaptation on an Urban Corner
The Gil Roldán Building is conceived as a small-scale residential intervention, comprising five compact dwellings arranged within a three-storey volume positioned at the junction of two streets.
The particular topographical condition of the site, defined by the steep slope of one of the streets, determines the configuration of the building and generates a volumetric variation at the upper level, where a setback creates a generous terrace open to the urban surroundings.
The volume is raised above the lower street level to accommodate an open shared garage at ground floor, resolving naturally the relationship between access, level change and collective use.
The façade is organised through a controlled fragmentation, with a variable arrangement of openings introducing rhythm, depth and domestic scale to the envelope.
Vegetation and metal screens with a subtle vegetal character reinforce the identity of the building, establishing a dialogue between architecture, materiality and the urban landscape.
The project responds precisely to the conditions of the site, where geometry, topography and material expression are brought together in a calm and recognisable architecture.
