Continuity Between Built Memory and Contemporary Use

The intervention restores an eighteenth-century building in an advanced state of deterioration, altered by successive additions without heritage value and affected by a fire in 1965.

The project preserves the essential elements of the historic structure and takes its invariant characteristics as the basis for the complete reorganization of the building.

Lost or irreversibly damaged areas are resolved through contemporary construction systems, introduced with clarity and restraint.

The new program adapts the building for use as a notary office, organizing the working spaces around a central courtyard that introduces light, calm and interior continuity.

The intervention establishes a precise balance between restoration, contemporary technique and spatial quality.

The project allows past and present to coexist within a single structure of everyday use.
